SpectraVET Performance of the Week: Anna Cavallaro
This Italian vaulter’s winter-themed performance just might give you chills.
My favorite performance of the fourth and final World Cup Vaulting qualifier, held over the weekend in Leipzig, Germany, came from Italy’s Anna Cavallaro.
The reigning FEI World Cup Vaulting champion didn’t win this go-round, placing second to Switzerland’s Simone Jäiser, but it was hard not to be enchanted by Anna’s performance. You might recognize her music, “Once Upon a December,” from the Disney movie Anastasia:
Someone holds me safe and warm
Horses prance through a silver storm
Figures dancing gracefully
Across my memory
The twinkling melody and icy lighting were the perfect accompaniment to Anna’s nimble movements — and the horse she was riding? Swoon.

The World Cup Vaulting series final takes place in Graz, Austria from February 19-22. We’re looking forward to it!
