‘Oh Crap’ Monday

Here’s our latest batch of reader-submitted “oh crap” photos and videos!

Monday is already the crappiest day of the week, so it only makes sense that we make things official.

Jamie Parker: Please excuse my weird voice, but who wouldn’t talk in a weird voice when they find one of their fools like this?! We actually just used a drill and a crowbar to pop the board of the fence. Then he just walked backwards. It was incredibly anticlimactic: he didn’t even care about the nails making a screeching sound when they came out of the post or about the drill for the screws! He was completely fine. He was only missing a little bit of fur on one hind leg, but no blood. He trotted off sound before galloping and bucking like a loon!

Nia Haynes: My Friesian-Arab mare Mooie Zwaan (it means Pretty Swan in Dutch) and I had a disagreement in our first-ever time out at 2nd level. She was not keen on the walk to canter transitions and decided to cow-kick then buck as a not so subtle reminder that this dressage stuff is for the birds! She must have softened to the idea later on because we came out the next day and got a 64!

The sassiness is sprinkled throughout the video but the highlights would be my trot lengthen/canter (we were not getting across the diagonal fast enough for her liking I guess) at 0:47, the jiggy walk with rein snatching at 2:27 (free walk doesn’t explicitly SAY you can’t rudely snatch the reins), then she gives me the “middle hoof” at 2:59-3:10.
