Best of Craigslist: Nuts Edition

“Nuts” is a term often used to describe one who is crazy. However, there are a few more meanings of the word, as you will see in today’s “Best of Craigslist”!

Ah, Craigslist — you never fail to simultaneously entertain and terrify. From overly-honest ads to outstanding photography to creative grammar and spelling, we’ve got it all in today’s roundup.

We’ll start things off mild with this guy, submitted by Ashley:

Sales photo of the year away goes to this “guilding,” submitted by Natalie:

Three year old guilding with very nice papers and he has a very calm mind and is very trustworthy. His father was the only stallion to recieve the horse of the year title and only the second horse to do it as a three year old. I have done a ton of different work on him he is broke but with a little more work he could be great.

And the runner-up for sales photo of the year was submitted by Elizabeth:

I have a 2 1/2 year old stud for sale. Is saddle broken and can be controlled with reigns without a
bit. Does need a little more work. Asking 800 cash obo.

Look, we’re a sucker for a big beautiful black horse as much as the next guy… but then we get to the last line. Submitted by Meredith:

If I could use one word to describe this horse it would be elegant! To watch this horse float over the ground is something else but to be on his back is even better. Dad said the other day, “You know if I was a person who was going to only own one horse, this is the horse I would want” and I thought that this was a very good way to describe this gelding. Bruno could do so many different things; he is big enough to take a hard day’s work, athletic enough to be a big time head horse and elegant & trainable enough to make a show horse.

Yeah, we appreciate when sellers are honest — up to a point. Submitted by Maria:

Meet “Gina!”
Gina is an approximately 10 year old grade paint mare, around 14.2-15 hands. The story was, she was supposedly registered but the papers were lost along the way. It’s definitely believable she was registered at some point because she has the feet of a purebred horse. The feet were bred right out of her. Gina has navicular. She’s like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get. Some days she’s sound, some days she’s not quite so sound, but always rideable. She’s currently bareboot with glue on boots and has improved much over the past two years.
Gina is built like a brick you know what, and has the conformation of a halter horse. She would make an excellent brood mare, because isn’t that what most people do? They breed them if they’re unsound, unregistered, or rank under saddle. (Jokingly.)
Under saddle Gina is very quick and responsive. She neck reins and does all the basic maneuvers of a broke horse. She’s been ridden bareback, has ponied a pack string, and has had a rope thrown off of her. She collects nicely, trail rides well, crosses water and rides alone. She’s not a beginners horse because she’s responsive and sensitive, but she’s also never been known to buck or rear.
Occasionally she will spook on the trail, especially at light colored horses, cows, and elk. I think she might be a tad-racist.
Gina is your typical hormonal female. She’s normally sweet and loving, but during her cycle she can make you have moments where you really appreciate your gelding.
Gina loves her buddies. Some people call it buddy-sour, Gina calls it being social.
Located in NW Las Vegas, NV
Price: $500 OBO Will even consider trade for something that doesn’t eat.

Vintage Johs. Stubben Krefeld English riding saddle . Made In Germany.

Appears to be 17 in. saddle size. from my measurements. Please note this is a vintage older saddle and may require some repair.  I am not an equestrian but  appears  to be in good shape

And we’ll wrap up with two ads reminding everyone that there’s nuts, then there’s nuts… and then there’s these horses.
