RIP Arcadius
Saturday marked the 71st running of the Iroquois Steeplechase (TN), where the 8-year-old Arcadius edged out two-time Iroquois winner Tax Ruling. However, instead of celebrating, those connected to the winner were mourning the loss of an incredible athlete.
Immediately following jockey Brian Crowley’s dismount, while posing for photo’s with the horse’s owner Ed Sawyer, Arcadius collapsed during his routine cool down. Autopsy reports revealed that the horse suffered a heart attack. You can read the full report from The Tennessean here.
Horse Nation wishes to send condolences to Brian, Ed, and all other connections to Arcadius.
