Monday Morning Feed from SmartPak
Good Morning, Horse Nation! The Derby’s now bittersweetly behind us, but the Preakness is less than 13 days away. Do you believe in I’ll Have Another’s Triple Crown potential?
In the history of the Triple Crown, 11 horses have done it. Sir Barton was the first in 1919, and Affirmed was the most recent in 1978–34 years ago.
The way Bodemeister ran, you can guarantee I’ll Have Another has his work cut out for him. But when the Preakness rolls around, aren’t we all rooting for a repeat victory, deep down, at least a little? And in this case, it’s actually in the horse’s name? Like it’s his destiny? Because he wants another?
Though I’ve lived less than an hour from Pimlico most of my life, this year marks the first that the timing’s worked out for me to attend the race in person. I’m already getting a little beside myself.
What am I going to do about a hat?
