HN Christmas Carols: ‘It Came Completely From Nowhere’
HN’s horsey spin on “It Came Upon A Midnight Clear.”
Join us in Horse Nation for a week of holiday caroling! Today’s tune: It Came Completely From Nowhere (sung to “It Came Upon A Midnight Clear.”)
It came completely from nowhere
That giant, enormous buck.
And now I’m lying here on the ground–
Yes, this would be my luck.
My horse was schooling oh so well,
just perfect in every way.
But then he arched his back and bucked
And left me here to stay.
I wonder where my horse has gone
Now that he’s left me here.
Perhaps he jumped the arena fence
The one time he’ll always jump clear.
I’d better search, I’d better rise,
I’m sure I’m not injured at all.
It’s just a bruise, a cut, a bump–
It’s just a little fall.
Now I’m up and on my feet
Only limping a bit,
My husband better not see me yet
He’ll pitch another fit.
I cannot grasp why he thinks it’s wrong
For me to get bucked off like this.
So what, I’m bleeding? I won’t trade
Away my one true bliss.
Merry Christmas and Go Riding!
