Mr. Snap – Phoenix, Arizona
“We bought Snap off of the racetrack as a 3-year-old and rode him in low-level jumpers. He’s a real character and every kid (and some grownups!) that came our barn all said Snap was their favorite. He is sound with just front shoes and could do some walk trot work — I will not let him go as a lesson horse. I think his ideal situation is as a therapy horse or as a companion/pet. He does need inexpensive steroid therapy as he does have IBD. He’s a very cool guy that absolutely loves people and is broke and gentle. The photos are of Snap at about age 9 — the jumping photo is from last year.”
Star – Westfield, Indiana
“Approved home only.Purpose-bred for eventing and never raced 8-year-old thoroughbred mare with old hock injury needs loving home. Sound for breeding or trails. Kind, loving and easy to be around. Great addition to any farm. Sire raced and dam was A-circuit hunter.”
Pedro – Merrimack, New Hampshire
“Pedro is a 15-year-old, 14-hand pinto gelding that we are giving away for free as a project/companion pony.
We got him as a companion two years ago and he has not been ridden in that time. Here is everything we were told about his past:
He used to be a girl’s jumping pony and was then in a lesson program. During that time he became un-rideable (he bucks when you put a saddle on his back). He had x-rays and was checked by vets and no one could find anything wrong. So we are not 100% sure if he has a back/hip problem or if he just decided he wanted to retire. With some work, there is a possibility he could be rideable again or could be trained to drive.
Pedro is excellent for the vet and farrier, and loves people and attention. He lunges, trailers, and is UTD on shots, farrier, deworming, and has a negative Coggins. Pedro’s blankets are included.”
Array of Chocolates (Reiner) – Laguna Niguel, California
“Reiner is a 14-year-old registered AQHA gelding. No longer able to be ridden because he has developed a rare disease called Equine Motor Neuron Disease. He requires a vitamin E supplement everyday. He is great with children; they can lead him, pet him, sit on him and just walk, and he smiles on command. He loves people. I have owned him for nine years and can no longer afford his supplements every month. He is free only to the perfect home who will properly take care of him.”
Shyan – Wayland, Massachusetts
“Shyan is looking for the perfect forever home. Has taught many children and adults to ride, but can also have some spunk. She would be well-suited for a child moving into a larger pony or small adult. She was my daughter’s horse so we couldn’t let her go. We kept her and she has been an excellent lesson horse, has gone on many trails, and competed in hunter/jumper and dressage/eventing/combined tests. But has not had much attention or riding in the past year. She is very affectionate and has lots of personality and is very willing to do almost whatever her rider asks! Looking to meet with interested rider and introduce Shyan to ensure an appropriate match.”
