The Idea of Order: A horse comic
If you’ve ever set foot inside a cross-country start box, you’ll probably be able to relate to this week’s comic by Horse Nation’s illustrious illustrator Morgane Schmidt.
Morgane sends the following explanation: “If you start off the cross country phase trying to puke your Gatorade in such a manner as to not hit and spook your horse, all the while asking yourself what was so wrong with just doing plain old dressage, you might need to reassess some things. A moment similar to the above scenario may just have been when I realized that hurtling myself over fixed obstacles was not really my forte. Good thing I realized how wimpy I was early on as it has given me plenty of time to throw my money and effort into an arguably even more expensive discipline: hello Dressage.”
About the artist: Morgane Schmidt is a 28-year-old teacher/artist/rider/show announcer who still hasn’t quite decided what she wants to be when she grows up. A native Floridian, she now lives in Reno, NV, where she’s been able to confirm her suspicion that snow is utterly worthless. Though she has run the gamut of equestrian disciplines, her favorite is dressage and her plans this year in include pursuing her USDF bronze medal. Visit her website at www.theideaoforder.com.
