Quietly sneaking into the saddle is probably not the best methodology, mostly because EVENTUALLY, the horse will figure out you’re up there, and then this happens.

You’ve probably seen the age-old colt starting techniques at one point or another: You start in a round pen, you jump up and down on the mounting block, you shake the stirrups, you rub the horse on both sides, and you gradually increase the weight you hoist on their back before finally, eventually, throwing a leg over. It seems to work pretty good.

Alternatively, you could just do it like this, in a random field with open gates and a picnic table (??), and see how that goes. Spoiler Alert: NOT GOOD.
