‘Oh Crap’ Moment of the Day: Around and Around They Go… Until They Don’t

Loose horses, lost horses, horses running in the wrong direction… watch the video of this steeplechase gone haywire!

Anyone who has tried to memorize a tough cross country course, dressage test or equitation pattern knows what it is like to be in the middle of the competition and forget what comes next. Watch what happens when jockeys lose their sense of direction in this steeplechase in France, which took place on Sunday.

The race, run at Castera-Verduzan, went so wild that for several seconds, the race caller was completely speechless. Luckily, nobody was hurt in the incident which ended with just two horses and riders out of 11 staying on course. Funny enough, the winner, Maxine Le Galliard, was actually disqualified because it turns out they were the pair that started the whole chain reaction “monkey see, monkey do” event.

Hint: The going gets REALLY good at about 1:20.
