Friday Morning Feed
Good Friday, Horse Nation! Many of you are kicking off a nice long weekend–maybe you’re heading to a competition, or just planning to squeeze in some extra one-on-one time with your horse. In either case, enjoy–you deserve it.
Others of you work jobs that don’t break for the holidays. I’m talking about barn managers, stable helpers and on-call vets. Horses don’t care if it’s Thanksgiving, Christmas or Easter. They still have to be fed, turned out, brought in and have their stalls cleaned. They’re still going to need stitches if they get injured, or a tube down their nose if they colic.
If you’re an equestrian professional who’ll be working this weekend, Horse Nation salutes you. Thank you for playing a vital role in the well-being of our horses–rain or shine, hot or cold, holiday or no holiday.
If you keep your horse at a boarding facility, take the time to thank whomever is sacrificing part of their holiday to ensure that your horse gets taken care of. A little appreciation goes a long way.
On that note, I’d like to take a moment to thank all of the stable-help folks at Ridgemor Farm, where I board my horses. THANK YOU, especially to Carrie, Dale and Tally, for working so hard to keep my horse happy, healthy and safe every day. It’s such an amazing feeling to know that my horses are in such capable hands.
Go Riding.
