Girls, Horses, Electropop Combine in New Music Video
Allow us to introduce you to your new favorite band, Whistlejacket.
When it comes to awesome yet offbeat pop music, there must be something in the New Zealand water.
Exhibit A: Lorde…
Exhibit B: Flight of the Conchords…
Exhibit C: Whistlejacket, an up-and-coming Auckland-based band that is apparently as crazy about horses as it is about making music. Even the name Whistlestop is a reference to this famous 1762 painting, by the British artist George Stubbs, of the Marquess of Rockingham’s racehorse.
The music video for their first single “We Get This Feeling,” released on April 1, is over-the-top in the most beautiful way possible, coupling an impossibly catchy beat with footage of girls on horses cantering around and occasionally jumping speakerboxes.
I don’t even understand, but I do appreciate a band that isn’t afraid to march to the beat of its own drum — especially if it involves horses. Check out the band’s website here.
