Horsenista: Home Decor
Whether you lay your head in a $175 million ranch, $73 million castle or somewhere a little more within an actual equestrian’s budget…let’s decorate!
Horse themed rooms are not just for tween girls anymore, my friends. It’s called “equestrian chic” and it means us horsey folk can now look totally hip when we drag old saddles and tack into our living rooms, bedrooms, offices and bathrooms.
Just check out these rooms featured on Houzz.
This looks like a very serene room in which to dream horsey dreams. An uber crafty person may even be able to make a similar rustic bed frame from reclaimed barn lumber.
A very boldly colored room that screams “old school foxhunter” to me. I love the bits on the wall and the display of ribbons in front of the fireplace.
An antique western saddle makes for a great focal point of a room or hallway.
Totally digging the upcycled horse collar as a mirror. Quite a few of these, finished and unfinished for the do-it-yourselfer, can be found on Etsy.
The repurposed race horse saddle towels add amazing color. These could become a fantastic collection if you opt for more famous racehorse names but others are available quite cheaply via Ebay.
And the piece de resistance…where you simply work and live in a stall. I LOVE THIS!
Check out these awesome items to get your creative juices flowing.
I’m totally getting the “Pint Sized Chalkboard Horse” by Houndstooth Design. What’s better than a horsey to-do list written on a horse?
I’d like to dine on this set of fine china from Scully and Scully. Where were these when I did my bridal registry!?!
Or perhaps I’ll just take a shot from this Walk on the Wild Side Shot Glass every time my horse injures himself in the pasture.
I want to cuddle all day long in this lambswool blanket from Not on The High Street.
And I could do that in my home theatre (Note to self: Build home theatre) in this awesome leather recliner from Houzz.
I really like this shower curtain from Anthropologie! Though a $150 price tag is a bit over the top.
And these similarly priced pillow cases featured on Lulu and Georgia are adorbs!
Even the uncrafty (like myself…sigh) could possibly handle this do-it-yourself job of turning bits into art. Or you could turn stirrup irons into a soap dish, towel holder, or book ends!
But if you are super handy with power tools, check out this how to guide on repurposing old stall doors. I love, love, love the idea. My husband is hoping my love for this passes…and quickly.
But wait there’s more! Like these stirrup leather flower centerpieces.
And this from West Coast Weather Vanes.
And this awesome horse chandelier!
Go Riding!
