Horsenista Fashion: Yes, No, Maybe?
Here are some of Horsenista’s top picks for 2014 spring fashion and a few that should have been left on the drawing board…. and then the drawing board should have been burned.
As equestrians we’re always on the lookout for ways to incorporate horse craziness into our everyday life. The fashion world has been happy to cater to our passion lately and with an actress like Zooey Deschanel jumping on the bandwagon, who could resist? (Btw, Zooey is an equestrian herself — check out the end of this story.)
YES! I love, love, love this shirt dress by OASAP, though it no longer seems to be available via the website.
Oddly enough, you can find the exact same fabric on Ali Express for a mere $13. The dress is just a longer Bohemian style.
YES! While you’re at Ali Express pick up this cute little number for $28 because we all know usually there’s a minimum order for that free shipping!
YES! This “pinup girl meets serious business woman” design from Mod Cloth will be perfect for the board room or watching a polo match. Pair it with sky high heels and pearls and you’re good to go.
YES! Buy these boxers for your man from Stonemen now! Metaphors about stables and horses in them… go…
MAYBE. Should you buy yourself the matching ones? On one hand they’re really cute but do you want to be the couple with matching drawers? No one will see them but you. It’s not like they’re matching windbreakers… so… YES!
MAYBE. If you’re headed to a high profile party and need something a little more haute couture, check out this evening gown designed by Mika Machida as featured on Inhabitat. I’m not sure about the mane fringe but otherwise it could work.
NO! No matter how cute the idea is in theory, do not… I repeat… do not actually dress up as a Burlesque horse for a party.
NO! And that goes for zombie parties too. Do not be the only zombie wearing a strange wicker horse head mask.
NO! These creations from Japanese fashion designer Masaya Kushino are named Lung-ta which means “wind horse” and were inspired by the French equestrian theater company, Zingaro. Don’t fret, though, the hair is human hair because the designer says, “the shoes are for a person.” Good to know. There’s no price tag on these bad boys, but I’m assuming you’re going to pay a fair amount for this kind of leg damage.
And can I get a… HELL NO! This final one mixes taxidermy, fashion and horror all in one pair of shoes. Let me introduce you to the work of Iris Schieferstein.
There are no words.
Go Riding!
