In the News: ’25th Win in a Row for Black Caviar’
That’s the headline from a story in the New York Times about the unbeaten Aussie mare, who has extended her epic winning streak with another Group 1 win.
EN’s Visionaire reports, “Australian phenom Black Caviar, an unbeaten 6-year-old mare, took the Darley T. Smith stakes (G1-AUS) by three lengths, making it her eight straight Group 1 win. Black Caviar has now won 18 races at about 6 furlongs, making her one of the most remarkable sprinters in history.”
According to news reports, a sell-out crowd of 23,188 packed the stands, with many spectators dressed in salmon and black to match the silk of Black Caviar’s jockey, Luke Nolen.
An ESPN story quoted trainer Peter Moody as saying, “I’m told that is the best field she has ever faced. What can you say … she just gets the job done.”
