Welcome to Horse Nation, SpectraVET™ Therapeutic Lasers!
We are thrilled to announce our new sponsorship from SpectraVET, an innovator in laser therapy for equines, canines and more.
If you’re unfamiliar with laser therapy, it’s one of the most exciting new therapies on the market today. It uses Low Level Laser Therapy to stimulate healing in musculoskeletal injuries and conditions commonly suffered by performance animals and pets alike.
Personally, I’m a big believer. I’ve used a laser to help my horse (and, cough-cough, myself) recover after strenuous events, and I’ve also seen it used with great success to speed up recovery times from injuries.
Intrigued? Here’s the 411 from SpectraVET.com:
SpectraVET™ Therapeutic Lasers are in the top of their class when it comes to reliability, effectiveness and affordability.
Designed for portable operation, SpectraVET Laser Systems are lightweight and simple to operate, yet rugged and powerful enough for the most demanding user.
SpectraVET offers a wide range of single-laser and multi-laser probes, each designed specifically for a particular application, such as high-power, large multi-diode probes for horses and other large animals, and lower-powered, smaller-sized probes for greyhounds, and other dogs and small animals.

What is Low Level Laser Therapy?
Low Level Laser Therapy, commonly known as LLLT (also cold laser, soft laser, LILT) is a form of phototherapy which involves the application of monochromatic and coherent light to injuries and lesions to stimulate healing.
Unlike non-coherent light emitting devices, such as common LEDs and so-called SLDs (usually just infrared LEDs), the coherent, monochromatic and polarised radiation emitted by LASER has unique, specific, and scientifically-proven effects that, at the 810nm wavelength primarily used by SpectraVET, persist deep into the tissue.
What is LLLT used for?
LLLT is used to increase the speed, quality and tensile strength of tissue repair, resolve inflammation, and give pain relief.
It is an attractive form of treatment for animal athletes, due to the prospect of shorter recovery and lay-off times.
The portability of battery-powered diode laser systems enables treatment to be carried out in the barn, the trailer, or in the field, allowing the immediate and therefore more effective treatment of equine sports injuries, such as muscle tears, haematomas, and tendinopathies.

We look forward to a great partnership with SpectraVET, including a fun sponsored weekly post.
