News: ‘Tommy Lee Jones puts his 50-plus-acre Florida polo estate on the market for $26.75 million’

That’s the headline from an article published today in the NY Daily News.

Jones, age 66, was most recently nominated for a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for Lincoln. He didn’t win but never mind that: He’s got other passions to keep him occupied.

According to the story, “The Texas-born Jones picked up polo in his forties, becoming a quick connoisseur of the sport and member of the Polo Training Foundation.”

He originally purchased the polo farm in Wellington in two pieces, buying 40 acres in 2002 for $2.95 million and then 10-acres for $1.1 million in 2003. Since then, he’s made significant improvements to the property, hence the price increase.

In particular, Jones improved the equestrian amenities, which now include one regulation polo field, one practice field, stalls for 48 horses, trails and two barns containing seven tack rooms.

Of the human dwellings, the article says, “The 11,000-square-foot house reportedly opens up to the polo field from a large outdoor veranda. It has four-bedrooms and two bathrooms, suggesting Jones likely didn’t put a lot of renovation into the main house.”
