News: ‘Horsemeat found in beefburgers on sale in UK and Ireland’

The story concerns a discovery by the Republic of Ireland’s food safety authority (FSAI) that some beef burgers sold in supermarkets contained horse DNA.

The FSAI has stated that while the findings pose no risk to public health, an investigation is underway to determine how the burgers were contaminated. All implicated batches of the burgers have been removed from supermarket shelves.
