Oh $h!t: Your most humiliating moments, captured on film
Here at HN, we are an equal opportunity appreciator of thrills, spills and everything in between. Today’s “Oh $h!t” moment is brought to you by reader Kallie Mitchell.
Kallie explains: “This is a video of my friend riding her pony bareback a few months ago–as you can see things took a turn for the worse! The girl in the video, Samantha, gave me permission to send this to you. Sorry, it’s a little shaky, we were laughing so hard!”
Thanks, Kallie and Samantha for sharing. You know, you and your friends are my favorite kind of horsegirls–the sort that double-dog-dare one another to do crazy things, then stand around laughing when it inevitably backfires and someone ends up eating a mouthful of arena sand. And not only that, but they capture it on film and post the video evidence, replete with slow-motion and backwards sequences, on YouTube, and submit it to Horse Nation for the entire world to see. Samantha, some people might tell you something like, “With friends like that, you don’t need enemies,” but we here at Horse Nation disagree. We think your friends are awesome.
Samantha, you’re probably too young to remember the Friends frenzy that captured much of the nation in the mid-’90s. Oh yes, we all got “The Rachel” haircuts, had crushes on Joey or Chandler or Ross, and knew all the words to “Smelly Cat.” It was a scary time for America. But the show carried a good message about the value of friendship.
It’s a time-honored tradition to dedicate an inspirational song, Dahlila-style, to Horse Nation’s fallen soldiers with each episode of “Oh $h!t.” Kallie, Samantha and Co., this one goes out to you.
Go Riding, and try not to fall off if you can help it.
