HN Christmas Carols: ‘I Want an Off-Track Thoroughbred for Christmas’

Ready or not, the holidays are here. That means it’s time for some Horse Nation carols.

I want an off-track Thoroughbred for Christmas,
Only an off-track Thoroughbred will do.
Don’t want a draft, no naughty wee pony,
I want an off-track Thoroughbred to retrain and enjoy.

I want an off-track Thoroughbred for Christmas
I don’t think my husband will mind, do you?
It could be so much worse, I could have picked the one
That had to be imported and will surely cost a ton.

I can see me now on Christmas morning,
Sneaking to the barn.
Oh, what joy and what surprise when I open up my eyes
And see my new ex-racehorse on the farm.

I want an off-track Thoroughbred for Christmas,
Only an off-track Thoroughbred will do.
I won’t ride just any old pony,
I only need a nice OTTB,
I think an OTTB needs me too! 

My husband says he’d run away with me,
But I’ll just take my time and find the one’s that more lazy!
I’ll take any color, chestnut, gray or bay,
I’ll brush him and I’ll ride him and I’ll feed him all the hay.
