How did you start riding?

For as long as I can remember I loved horses. So for my fifth birthday my parents got me a lesson package at a barn nearby. I haven’t stopped loving it since!

What is your favorite thing about riding/or your horse?

I love the feeling of being able to forget all the stress of life and just feel the flow of the horse underneath me whether it be mine or someone else’s.

What would you like to do when you are older?

When I graduate high school, I plan to major in Animal Science with a concentration in Equine at the University of Georgia. After, I plan to go to law school to become an equine attorney.

Tell us your favorite quote and why:
My favorite quote is something slightly humorous but also something that I have loved for a long time. “I never look back darling, it distracts from the now.” – Edna Mode. I really like this quote because it really inspires me to strive to be the best I can be for the future.

What do you think the most important aspects of horsemanship are?

I think that some important aspects of horsemanship are health and care. Sometimes people forget about those things and go straight to riding, but without a happy and healthy horse, riding can become difficult.

How many pets do you have (and what kind)?
I have 3 horses, 1 dog, 1 cat, and a few chickens.

What is your favorite animal (apart from a horse)?
My favorite animal other than a horse is definitely llamas!

What is your favorite color?
My favorite color is either teal or hot pink.

What is your favorite food?
My favorite foods are french fries and milkshakes.

What is something unique about you?
One unique thing about me is I also participate in 4-H and FFA, two other youth organizations in the United States.

What is one word that your friends would describe you as?
Hard-working or reliable.

What is one thing you would like to tell people about Thoroughbreds or the Thoroughbred Incentive Program?
One thing I would want people to know is that Thoroughbreds have the same amount of talent as Warmbloods. Just because this is their second career, they do the same amazing things!

What are your goals for your horse in 2019?
My goals this year for my horse and I is to try something new. I would like to try some eventing since my main discipline is hunters. I also train a Thoroughbred for a friend so I want to enter her in some Thoroughbred classes at shows.

The Thoroughbred Incentive Program was created by The Jockey Club to encourage second careers for Thoroughbreds when their racing days are over. The T.I.P. sponsors Thoroughbred-only classes and high point awards as well as Performance Awards, special year-end awards specifically for Thoroughbreds. The T.I.P. also recognizes non-competing Thoroughbreds through its Young Rider program as well as a special award for Thoroughbreds in careers such as therapy horses or other non-profit outlets.
