Standing Ovation by Ovation Riding: New Vocations All-Thoroughbred Charity Horse Show

Kicking off today and running all weekend long, the New Vocations All-Thoroughbred Charity Horse Show will welcome hundreds of horses from multiple states with 100% of the proceeds going towards racehorse rehoming efforts.

Presented by the Jockey Club Thoroughbred Incentive Program, the New Vocations All-Thoroughbred Charity Horse Show is in its fourth year, taking place right now at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington. The event is the largest of its kind to take place at the KHP, welcoming both horses relatively fresh off the track and seasoned show horses who were formerly racers.

Originally purely a hunter/jumper competition, the show has branched out to now include dressage and western dressage; the T.I.P. Championships to take place on Sunday include dressage and western pleasure plus hunter/jumper. The New Vocations All-Thoroughbred Charity Horse Show also includes in-hand classes, including the coveted War Horse In-Hand class.

In 2017, the show welcomed over 250 horses from 22 states and it’s expected to be larger this year. The banner classes including the Jumper Stake and the Hunter Derby will go under the lights in the Rolex Arena on Friday and Saturday nights, respectively.

The show is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the Thoroughbred’s ability to succeed in a second career post-racing in the heart of the bluegrass, keeping the conversation about aftercare forefront in the racing industry. 100% of the proceeds from this show go back to rehabilitating, retraining and rehoming ex-racehorses to set them up for success in their next career.
