Fit to Ride: Because there no blue ribbons in the bottom of that beer bottle
Horse Nation health guru Biz Stamm suggests some healthy, delicious substitutes for traditional 4th of July barbeque fare.
From Biz:
Happy 4th, Horse Nation!!! I’m taking a quick break from my Independence Day festivities to share how you can celebrate our fine nation healthfully. The 4th and barbeques go hand in hand, but the grill is good for so much more than hot dogs and hamburgers. Grilled veggies are ridiculously tasty and so easy to make. For most veggies, just coat lightly in olive oil, season with salt and pepper, and then grill until tender. I really like the charred grill makes on my veggies, so I make a point not turn them too frequently.
Now I know a lot of us will be partaking in some adult beverages, which can be packed with empty calories. So today I’m going to provide you with a low calorie drink option to sip on throughout the day.
Low Cal Margarita
- 1.5 shots tequila
- 2 Tablespoons lime juice
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/4 teaspoon orange extract
- 1 Tablespoon agave nectar
- Ice – small handful
- Margarita salt or kosher salt
Wet the rim of your glass and coat with Margarita salt. Combine ingredients, and there you have it!
Have a great 4th, Horse Nation! Go riding!
