Standing Ovation by Ovation Riding: Special People United to Ride
Every Friday, Horse Nation teams up with Ovation Riding to spotlight an individual or organization doing good work in the horse world. Today, we’re honoring Special People United to Ride, or SPUR.
Special People United to Ride (SPUR) is a therapeutic riding organization based in Lincroft, New Jersey. SPUR works in conjunction with the Monmouth County Park System to provide riding opportunities and therapeutic horsemanship to individuals with disabilities.
SPUR instructors are PATH International certified and the entire organization is a 501(c)(3) non-profit. A hardworking team of over 100 trained volunteers help serve over 200 students annually.
SPUR was recently the recipient of a large donation through Neighbors Helping Neighbors, a joint effort between the Today show and State Farm to give back to communities in need. This video may bring a tear to your eye:
How horseback riding changes the lives of kids with special needs
A remarkable surprise for a remarkable group of people. Hats off to the volunteers at SPUR (Special People United to Ride), who help kids, one horseback ride at a time.
