Oh $h!t: Your most humiliating moments, captured on film
Today’s “Oh $h!t” moment is brought to you by reader Suzanne Hardesty aboard (but not for long!) her horse Royal Society “Riva” at Wayne DuPage Horse Trials in 2007.
Suzanne writes, “It was my first event with her and I really only started riding her about three weeks prior. I would’ve stayed on had she not leaped sideways to avoid a huge puddle just a few strides out. Perhaps needless to say, I went for a swim in that very puddle! The photo deceivingly shows her in decent form (why does it always seems to happen that way?!).” The photo was taken by Suzanne’s dad.
Sorry you got jumped out of the tack, Suzanne–we’ve all been there! It’s always great when you can look back and laugh, put things in perspective, realize that this moment of hardship in fact brought you and your horse closer together. Always remember, Suzanne: You can fly higher than an eagle, but Riva is the wind beneath your wings.
As is Horse Nation tradition, this one goes out to you.
Sidenote: To hear Horses in the Morning co-host Jamie Jennings singing the chorus of “Wind Beneath My Wings” on-air, check out this morning’s broadcast.
