‘Oh Crap’ Monday

Monday is already the crappiest day of the week, so it only makes sense that we make things official. Here’s our latest “oh crap” video.

“So I got dunked this morning. A life time of riding and this was a first for me. As we crossed a bridge this morning, my stirrup got caught on the wooden bridge. My horse slipped and had his left legs hanging off the bridge and his right legs crammed underneath him. As I struggled to get his saddle off. He struggled a little and knocked me off the bridge and I took a swim in a mountain stream that was snow a few hours earlier. I guarantee you, it took my breath away, but no time for rest. I had to finish getting the saddle off the horse and get him off the bridge. After getting the horse unstuck, I stripped (sorry ladies) and tried to wring as much water as possible out of my clothes before putting them back on and finishing our ride. A few hours later when I got back to the truck, I was all about turning the heat on high and cooking my fellow passengers  as we drove home. My horse has a few scrapes on his legs and I have a few on my arms and legs, But we are both fine.”

“On Edit. This was a freak occurrence. I’ve crossed many a bridge like that over the years with never a problem. I post this so folks can laugh at me getting wet. Can appreciate why you want to teach your horse to spook in place and be calm and for folks to remember then need to be calm. It’s not a death sentences when a trail accident happens. Things can be fixed if you stay calm and just work at the problem.”
