Fantasy Farm Thursday: Multimillion Dollar CT Farm Up for Public Auction
A jaw-dropping property with a mind-blowing price tag. Could it be your business opportunity of a lifetime?
Next Tuesday, a public auction will be held to find a new owner for one of the swankiest horse properties this side of the Atlantic. From angled kickboards to spire rooftops, this property is the Beyonce of equestrian facilities: not a hair out of place, and enough charisma to carry a Superbowl halftime show.
No expense was spared in building this elegant horse palace in the Connecticut woods. Nestled in Marlborough — about halfway between New York City and Boston — on a sweet little 55-acre pad, this green luscious property went all out for horse and human alike. And gurrrrl, does she know how to make an entrance:
All the barn facilities are connected by covered walkways which guide you from pristine stalls and aisles to an impeccable 100′ x 200′ indoor arena with dramatic vaulted ceilings, luxury viewing/lounge area and the very best footing. Outdoors, there is a seemingly endless array of turnout options: 9 pastures, 32 grass paddocks, round pens, loafing sheds, and other amenities.
Of course, no barn is complete without an airplane hangar’s worth of farm equipment, so a massive four door garage for all your toys awaits you nearby.
The primary residence has a stature equal to the horse amenities — the Jay Z of residences, if you will. And the details of this luxury log cabin are decadent. The five bedroom/three bathroom home has high-end finishes like a sculptured tin ceiling, Italian countertops, multiple fireplaces, a wraparound porch with outdoor kitchen that overlooks a swimming pool, and a commercial grade kitchen worthy of the celebrity chef of your choice.
And like any proper luxury equestrian estate, there are multiple guest houses and workers’ quarters on-site to keep staff and friends alike happy and well-rested on their patch of paradise.
The property at one time sported a listing price of $11 million, but next Tuesday, the starting reserve bid for this property is but a measly $2 million. Food for thought: that means you only need to find 99 friends who can spare $20,000 each to pool your money and make a starting bid on this farm of a lifetime!
The auction will start at 1pm EST, and interested parties must provide in advance certified funds of $25,000 in order to bid. If you win, these funds will be deposited as earnest money. Also, a little itty bitty buyer’s premium of 10% of the sale price will also be due. (You know, around $200,000. Or more.)
For more of the specifics, check out the farm’s auction website and take a look at the property brochure. And if by some miracle the winning bidder is a lucky HN reader, be sure to let us know how it all went down! (And maybe tip the writer a finder’s fee, will ya? 1% or tradesies for a sleepover in the barn loft. I’m a simple creature with modest needs.)
Go Riding!
