SpectraVET Performance of the Week: Hunter Holloway
Watch the winning round from the 2016 ASPCA Maclay Finals: Hunter Holloway and C’est La Vie set the bar high!
The ASPCA Maclay National Championship of the National Horse Show is a prestigious stop on any equitation rider’s calendar, and this year top honors went to Hunter Holloway of Topeka, Kansas. Holloway claims her second equitation championship of 2016; she won last week’s Washington International Horse Show.
Even better, Holloway demonstrated versatility as a rider — her WIHS victory came on her trouper mount Any Given Sunday, but this gelding showed a slightly elevated temperature in Lexington for the National Horse Show, Holloway and her trainer Don Stewart made the decision to show C’est La Vie instead. While it wasn’t a planned change, the shift in mounts does demonstrate Holloway’s equitation is not necessarily reliant on just one equine partner.
Watch her lovely final course, commentated by George Morris, Anne Kursinski and last year’s winner McKayla Langmeier:
We’re willing to be that Holloway will be a rider to watch in coming years! For more coverage of the National Horse Show as well as all of the national and international hunter/jumper action, turn to our sister site Jumper Nation.
Go Hunter Holloway, and go riding!
