‘Oh Crap’ Monday: No Sir
This horse knows its job. With or without its rider.
Monday already is the crappiest day of the week, so it only makes sense that we make things official. Here’s our latest “oh crap” moment.
It happens at every show. Inevitably, someone’s horse gets loose. Usually it’s the pony that was tied to the trailer, but somehow manages to slip its halter (not that I’ve been victimized by this at all…) or the pony that used to have a rider mounted on top of it, but somehow no longer does.
Occasionally, it’s a full-sized horse whose rider has had an unplanned dismount. Usually, the horse stops or trots its way to the out-gate, looking for more freedom. In this case, however, it’s clear this horse knew its job and had every intention of finishing its course, despite the flapping and waving of the jump steward.
