Performance(s) of the Week, Part II

What were you doing at age 17? For most of us, it probably wasn’t winning FEI World Cup Jumping qualifiers… but that’s the new normal for Brian Moggre.

At age 17, I was perfecting my signature move of planting in anxiety on my horse’s neck as we approached an 18″ vertical, hastening my ultimate cross-over to the western disciplines. That year I also started my freshman year of college, where I memorably tacked up my tryout horse for the college hunt seat equestrian team with a dressage saddle.

Brian Moggre, at age 17, is winning FEI World Cup Jumping qualifiers in Florida for the winter. Basically the same thing, right?

We always felt that Moggre was one to watch — check out my exclusive with Moggre when he was a humble young lad of 15, cleaning up the blue ribbons at the Devon Horse Show. From all of us at Nation Media, congratulations, Brian, and we’ll be following your star in ascent.

Go riding!
