ICYMI: Winx Wins 30th Straight Race
The Australian supermare has yet to find anyone on the continent that can beat her: Winx took her 30th straight victory on Saturday, February 16 in the Star Apollo Stakes.
When we think of legendary horses in history, it’s hard to fathom that we’re living in an era in which some of those legends are still being written. Someday, will we all look back and say we remember seeing her, the great Winx, en route to her place in history with a record-setting number of straight wins?
Before we wax too sentimental about the future past, let’s enjoy the moment: Winx returned to the track in glory on Saturday at Randwick, her first start since her historic fourth Cox Plate victory in October. Any doubts as to whether or not Winx would be in her usual top form were quickly silenced as jockey Hugh Bowman barely had to urge the mare to make her move — she kicked on the afterburners and motored to an easy lead, flashing under the wire with Bowman sitting chilly.
RACE REPLAY: WINX takes out the 2019 Apollo Stakes, making it the 3rd time she's won this race. Today she eclipses all with 30 straight wins! // #winxhorse #gowinx

Affectionately called “the farewell tour” in racing media, Winx is pointed next to Chipping Norton Stakes, with The Agency George Ryder Stakes also on the prep list before what would be her final race in the Longines Queen Elizabeth Stakes in April.
Go Winx! Go riding.
