Performance of the Week: Darragh Kenny

Those Saturday night lights are shining bright down in Wellington: check out this unbelievably tidy jump-off round by Ireland’s Darragh Kenny and Classic Dream!

If there’s one thing I know about horses, it’s that the word “tidy” is not typically used to describe them. Even the neatest horse still ends up covered in mud, loose hair or shavings at some point in their life; every steed enjoys using their own manure as a pillow if the situation arises. It’s just a fact of horse life.

And yet, that’s the best way I can describe Classic Dream’s incredibly fast and smooth jump-off round with Ireland’s Darragh Kenny in the $134,000 Adequan Grand Prix CSI 3* at the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, Florida last Saturday. It doesn’t LOOK fast — there’s no flailing about or frantic galloping — but thanks to the tight, careful turns and overall tidiness of Classic Dream as a jumper, this combination shuts down the clock well ahead.

WEF is looking mighty nice right about now — not just for that world-class competition we could be watching, but for those cozy Florida temperatures…

Talk about a “classic dream.”
