Total Saddle Fit Sunday Video: Congress Freestyle
Always a big hit with spectators, the All-American Quarter Horse Congress freestyle reining never fails to impress. Here’s one of our favorite performances this year.
The All-American Quarter Horse Congress is such a big deal that it takes almost an entire month to run in its entirety: Quarter horses from all over the continent flock to Columbus, Ohio in the month of October to compete in just about every event under the sun. One of the big-ticket events that always draws an enthusiastic crowd is the freestyle reining: competitors run, spin and slide in coordinated routines to their favorite songs with plenty of props and costumes.
If you haven’t caught the freestyle reining before, you’re missing out on some spectacular performances: reiners have entered performing as racehorses, there have been marriage proposals, moving routines that brought the audience to its feet and some unique hands-free performances as well. The freestyle is truly “anything goes” within the reining world.
This year was no different — here’s the third-place performance that wowed the crowd.
Go reining!
