Standing Ovation by Ovation Riding: The Fluffball Foundation Benefits Forgotten Horses Rescue

Every Friday, Horse Nation teams up with Ovation Riding to spotlight an individual or organization doing good work in the horse world. Today, we’re recognizing the Fluffball Foundation, which recently named Forgotten Horses Rescue as its 2019 beneficiary.

The Fluffball Foundation is a Los Angeles-based 501(c)3 nonprofit, founded by actress and animal welfare activist Emmanuelle Vaugier, which raises funds at an annual event for a selected beneficiary. Past beneficiaries have included Best Friends Animal Society based in Utah to assist its No Kill Los Angeles campaign and The Animal Hope & Wellness Foundation. In 2017, the Fluffball Foundation announced its beneficiary to be Forgotten Horses Rescue, which will again be the beneficiary for the 2019 event.

The first Fluffball was held as an event in Vaugier’s home in 2009, where she raised $6,000. Wishing to take her efforts further, Vaugier formed the Fluffball Foundation several years later, continuing to hold exclusive invitation-only events as her prime fundraising effort. The 2017 event held in November of that year and the upcoming 2019 spring event will both benefit Forgotten Horses Rescue.

Funds are raised through corporate sponsorships plus a silent auction, and anyone can donate via GoFundMe.

Forgotten Horses Rescue is a southern California-based rescue that rehabilitates and rehomes horses from the slaughter pipeline in danger of shipping. Operated by trainer and horsewomen Trish Geltner and her husband Greg, Forgotten Horses Rescue has the experience of a professional trainer at its disposal to help give these horses the best possible odds at a second chance. A stringent adoption process works hard to make sure horses are going to safe, loving homes.
