How did you start riding?

My mom grew up riding and I grew up around horses and I just fell in love.

What is your favorite thing about riding/or your horse?

Learning about the horses, how to train them, how their bodies work.

What would you like to do when you are older?

I want to be a neurosurgeon

Tell us your favorite quote and why:

“One day, or day one. You decide.” –unknown

Deciding to live up to this quote has helped Sport and I qualify for dressage regionals in our first year of recognized showing. The quote also inspired me to get back into eventing. I always said I would do a horse trial “one day” and then, the quote inspired me to rethink my goals. I told myself “I’m going to do the July 4th Horse trial.” To pay for my entry, I saved up money by grooming for others at dressage shows, I picked up shifts for feeding at my barn, and ended up getting 2nd place at my first ever horse trial with Sport!

What do you think the most important aspects of horsemanship are?

Having a positive and trusting relationship between the horse and rider. This relationship allows the pair to learn from each other’s mistakes and develop into a successful team. A solid relationship can also keep the horse happy and keeping the horse happy is always the most important to me.

The T.I.P. sponsors Thoroughbred-only classes and high point awards as well as Performance Awards, special year-end awards specifically for Thoroughbreds. The T.I.P. also recognizes non-competing Thoroughbreds through its Young Rider program as well as a special award for Thoroughbreds in careers such as therapy horses or other non-profit outlets.
