Throwback Performance of the Week
Before the Road to the Horse win, before the bareback “Live Like You Were Dying” routine… there was the original bridleless ride by Stacy Westfall that started it all.
For many of us, Stacy Westfall is a household name, best known for the viral video in which she performs a bareback and bridleless reining routine to Tim McGraw’s “Live Like You Were Dying” in memory of her late father, or perhaps best known for her 2006 Road to the Horse victory as the undisputed underdog.
But back in 2003, Westfall had yet to mark these major accomplishments. In the 2003 NRHA Futurity, the spectators at the freestyle reining had no idea what they were about to witness when Westfall and Can Can Lena prepared to enter the ring.
The rest, as they say, was history. This is the ride that started it all.
That standing ovation says it all! Did you get chills? We sure did.
Go riding!
