SpectraVET Performance of the Week
While no equestrian ever takes a single day off (horses need to eat, even on holidays) show jumpers truly never rest: watch Harrie Smolders take the ninth leg of the Longines FEI World Cup Jumping 2017/2018 Western European League at Mechelen in Belgium!
No one hustles in the horse world like an international show jumper. Okay, maybe that jet-setting equestrian lifestyle and endless supply of European indoor coliseums helps, but regardless, it’s the show jumpers that keep us entertained all winter long while we’re dreaming of summer days and our own return to the saddle.
So to provide your weekly dose of top-tier international competition, we present to you Dutchman Harrie Smolders and the 13-year-old gelding Zinius, winners of the ninth leg of the Longines FEI World Cup Jumping 2017/2018 Western European League! This competition was held at Mechelen in Belgium on December 30 — a venue at which Smolders has never earned a victory, until now.
Smolders and Zinius were the fastest in the seven-horse jump-off; Zinius is demonstrating his ability to hang with the best of them as the horse is stepping up a level while Smolders rests the other horses in his string. With Zinius now honed, who knows where Smolders is headed next?
