Thursday Video: Coming In Hot
Without the commentary turned up, this is just kind of a tense situation. With the commentary, however… video gold.
Horses heading to the start can be a little hot, a little ready to go: after all, they’re probably at the peak of their physical fitness and energy and they can feel the excitement around them, anticipating the run. Working around these horses can require that one’s head be on a swivel, staying alert and adjusting to rapidly-changing scenarios.
That said, this video might be one of the funniest things we’ve seen in a long time. Make sure your volume is up to listen to the color commentary provided by At the Races for this long-suffering groom, jockey Silvestre De Silva and “mack man,” who appears to be an assistant trainer in a Mackintosh who just can’t quite get the job done.
Chelmsford: Silvestre and 'mac man'… ????
A man in a mac and a bit of brilliance from Silvestre De Sousa at Chelmsford City Racecourse last night. Decent commentary from Luke and Jason too! ????

Our kudos to De Sousa for that brilliant leap into the tack to take control of a rapidly escalating situation. Mack Man, better luck next time.
Go riding!
