Tuesday Video: What the OTTB Is Even Happening
These Retired Racehorse Project Thoroughbred Makeover candidates are looking more than ready, in our opinion. Ready for what? We have no idea, but we love it.
The off-track Thoroughbred has certainly experienced a renaissance in recent years, with more and more equestrians coming to appreciate the versatility and athleticism of these horses with plenty of life left to give a second career. As with any breed, each horse should be approached as an individual, but generally speaking, with the proper care and training the Thoroughbred is not typically any hotter, more reactive or “wild” than other breeds.
And if you still to convince yourself or someone you know that off-track Thoroughbreds aren’t hot, over-sensitive spook-monsters looking for any reason to lose their noodles, check out this duo who is prepping for the Retired Racehorse Project’s Thoroughbred Makeover. The video, submitted by Dan Keen, states that these two will be performing in the freestyle, trail and show hunters.
They certainly look ready to us:
4 more weeks for these talented thoroughbreds to be showcased in Kentucky at the RRP and they are loving there new career. These horse will be competing the Freestyle, trail obstacle and show hunters. Come see these two perform. They are pretty amazing

The Retired Racehorse Project’s Thoroughbred Makeover will take place at the Kentucky Horse Park on October 5-8, 2017, with hundreds of trainers and their former racehorses competing for prizes in a variety of disciplines, such as show hunter, field hunter, freestyle, working cow horse and more. Many of these horses will be available for sale as well, so this can be a great opportunity to get your hands on a restarted Thoroughbred of your very own!
We’ll continue to bring more coverage on the Thoroughbred Makeover, so keep it locked on Horse Nation.
