Videos: Vicki Wilson Reunites with RTTH Horse
Road to the Horse 2017 Champion Vicki Wilson reunited with her winning horse “Kentucky” this week to prepare him for quarantine and a flight to her home farm in New Zealand.
When Vicki Wilson of New Zealand won the 2017 Road to the Horse “World Championship of Colt Starting,” she achieved plenty of firsts in addition to actually winning the competition:
- First rider based in an English discipline to compete, and to win
- First rider from New Zealand
- First to jump bareback in the freestyle
- First to wear a helmet
- First to use an English saddle
- First to do chiropractic and muscular work on the colt
And now we can add one more first to the list, thanks in part to Wilson’s hailing from New Zealand: the first to export her colt overseas. Dubbed “Kentucky,” Wilson’s winning colt has been relaxing in the bluegrass to get some time off and presumably to process the training he’s already received; Wilson recently arrived back in the US to reunite with Kentucky and prep the colt for the quarantine process so he can fly to New Zealand.
Fortunately, it looks like this pair has hardly skipped a beat:
We can’t wait to see what’s next for this pair and how Kentucky adjusts to life in New Zealand! Fortunately for Road to the Horse fans, Vicki Wilson announced recently that she will be returning in 2018 to defend her title.
Go riding!
