SpectraVET Performance: Boyd Exell Wins At Windsor
The number-one driver in the world reaffirmed his talent as an equestrian by winning the International Driving Grand Prix at the Royal Windsor Horse Show in England!
England’s Royal Windsor Horse Show attracted international competitors in show jumping, dressage and combined driving among other disciplines, and ultimately it was New Zealand’s Boyd Exell, the current world leader for both indoor and outdoor four-in-hand driving, who took the day, leading all three phases of competition. Exell’s team is mixed Dutch and Swedish-bred horses.
Here is Exell’s winning driven dressage test, which put him into the overnight lead by six points:
Watch highlights from the marathon course (akin to eventing’s cross-country, but with four horses and a carriage!), which extended Exell’s lead to 10 points. Of note is the fact that one of Exell’s wheelers was competing in his first ever marathon!
We were unable to find video from the third phase of cones, but with just one cone down and no time penalties, Exell safely secured his eighth career Grand Prix win at Royal Windsor. What titles remain for the undisputed king of combined driving? We’ll continue to follow Boyd Exell’s career for more masterclass demonstrations!
Go driving!
