Vaulting is a unique equestrian art form — part gymnastics, part dance, all played out on a cantering horse and requiring impeccable timing, balance and strength. Freestyle vaulting really allows the individual performer to express themselves with music and costume, elevating each performance into drama.

Jannis Drewell’s winning performance from the March 5 World Cup in Dortmund was no different — with a Sherlock Holmes theme, drawing music and inspiration from the recent film version of the detective tale, Drewell blew the judges, commentators and spectators away. Check out his performance:
