7 Inspiring Images From 2016 Rio Paralympics
Competition continues all week long!
The Paralympics officially opened on Wednesday, September 7 and riders from all over the world are competing in para-dressage. Competition format is broken down by classification of impairment as well as individual and team competition. You can find details on the specific 2016 competition schedule here.
Para-dressage started on Sunday, September 11 and continues through Friday, September 16. As of yesterday’s initial day of competition, Team USA is sitting provisionally in third place out of 16 teams thanks to strong performances from Angela Peavy and Sydney Collier. Both are first-time Paralympians.
While the Olympics and Paralympics both celebrate the bond between horse and rider, the Paralympics in particular remind us that the saying is true: “horses give us the wings we lack.” We love the following photos from Rio, as found on Instagram.
Respect and trust. It’s as simple as that. #TwoHearts at the @paralympics – inspiring display of horsemanship and true determination.
