How many times have you heard the statement, “Chestnuts are crazy!” Researchers in Australia have taken the first steps to bust this myth.
During the study, behavioral questionnaires were distributed to 477 horse owners. The questions addressed age, breed, sex, discipline and coat color. Those owning chestnut horses reported no significant increase in “crazy” behavior (rearing, kicking, biting, spooking, etc.). In fact, more owners of chestnuts attributed bold or brave behavior to chestnut horses. Gotta love those redheads!
