SpectraVET Performance of the Week: Boyd Martin Aside

It takes a real man to give sidesaddle riding a try. A real man like eventer Boyd Martin.

In case the name “Susan Oakes” doesn’t sound familiar, allow us to give you a brief refresher: she’s set world records for side saddle jumping (a modest 6′ 8″) and for organizing the most ladies fox hunting aside. She was recently in the United States to compete in several side saddle point-to-point races, such as the Mrs. George C. Everhart Memorial Invitational Side Saddle Chase and the Mrs. Miles B. Valentine Memorial Side Saddle Race.

She also gave a side saddle clinic at Ivan Dowling and Stephanie Boyer’s Grey Lake Stables in Unionville, Pennsylvania, in the neighborhood of one Boyd Martin, who gave this whole riding aside thing a gallant try.
