World Equestrian Brands Helmet Cam: Welly Eventing

The 2016 $75,000 Wellington Eventing Showcase wrapped up this weekend in Florida — for all of us trapped in much colder locations, Doug Payne brings us along XC via helmet cam.

While most of the country shivered quietly through another winter weekend, the eventers of the nation headed to balmy Wellington, Florida for the second $75,000 Wellington Eventing Showcase. The showcase is a great opportunity to put eventing as a discipline in the spotlight before a new equestrian crowd, already in Wellington for the Winter Equestrian Festival, and it’s great to see disciplines mixing in new ways.

For those of us who didn’t hop a flight to the sunny south, however, Doug Payne was looking out for us — he recorded his cross-country trip via helmet cam, and then commentated his own ride to explain each fence along the way, including, of course, the much-anticipated gallop through the middle of the VIP tent.
