Horsenista Christmas: The Sporty List
Here are Horsenista’s top picks for your favorite sporty equestrian.
Keep It Cozy
Sporty equestrians are outside a lot, so they need to stay warm this holiday season. My favorite choices are cozy knit hats, fleece lined ear warmers and mud-busting muck boots.
Technical Fabrics
These fabrics somehow keep you warm and cool all at the same time. It’s basically sorcery. I love this Hex Fleece Winter Half Zip by Kerrits and the SmartPak Base Layers.
Recovery Mode
Other than an industrial size bottle of Ibuprofen, which let’s face it we all need, there are some awesome products from Back on Track that can keep every sporty equestrian in good shape. Ceramic powder-infused Welltex fabric reflects your own body warmth as an infrared wave, a form of energy that has documented pain relieving effect. I’ve personally used the wrist brace since starting polo and my bicycling husband loves the knee brace. I’m also dying to get my hands on the new fleece blanket.
Survival Supplies
Sporty equestrians tend to wander to rough and tumble campsites or cross country courses unknown. The Dry Camp Water Tank and Saddle Rack will help them prepare for life without modern plumbing, while the LuminAID will help them find their way to the barn sans batteries. The savvy camper would also bring their BioLite camp stove, which can charge phones, and first aid kit.
Backpacks
To carry all that gear, I love the new Under Armour Ringside Backpack, Noble Outfitters Ringside Pack and the Osprey Sirius 24 Pack. The Osprey is not equestrian specific, but, after carrying it to and from the polo fields in Wyoming for a week, I can attest that it gets the job done.
Creature Comforts
Finally, every sporty equestrian in your life deserves to be pampered. A gift certificate to a physical therapist, masseuse or chiropractor could be just the ticket to get your favorite rider relaxed and confident before spring training.
