I Love Lists Friday – 5 Homemade Horse Treats
Because your horse should get in on that holiday overeating action too.
1. Horse Cakes
1 carrot
1 apple
1 cup molasses
2 1/2 cups oats
2 Tablespoons oil
Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
Grate the carrot and apple.
Mix together all ingredients.
Place mixture in baking tray.
Bake for 40 minutes or until golden brown.
Cool for four hours in refrigerator.
2. Apple and Oat Chewies
1 1/2 cups unsweetened apple sauce
1 cup oat bran cereal or ground oatmeal
1/2 cup all purpose flour
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Oil a 9″ x 9″ square baking pan.
Spread the batter evenly in the cake pan and bake for 20 to 30 minutes until firm to the touch.
Keep unused treats in the refrigerator.
3. Peppermint Treats
10 crushed peppermints
2 cups flour
2 apples
1 cup of oats
1/4 cup of molasses
Water
Mix flour and oats together.
Add molasses.
Add water slowly until mixture is doughy.
Add peppermint.
Add apples.
Cook at 350 degrees until golden brown.
4. Banana-Glazed Apple
1 apple
1 banana
1 handful of ice cubes
Peel and cut banana.
Place banana and ice cubes into a blender; chop and blend until creamy.
Cut apple top off and carve out the middle.
Fill the apple with the blended banana.
Pour rest of banana over the sides of the apple.
Serve.
5. Oatmeal Carrot Crunchies @ Horse Channel
1 cup dry oatmeal
1 cup flour
1 cut chopped carrots
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon sugar
2 teaspoons vegetable oil
1⁄4 cup molasses
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Chop the carrots.
Mix in the oatmeal, salt flour and sugar.
Mix in the chopped carrots.
Stir in two teaspoons of vegetable oil.
Pour in the molasses.
Stir until everything is mixed together.
Form into small balls and place on a greased cookie sheet.
Put in the oven for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
Go riding.
