We Just Discovered HN’s Official Anthem
Woman loves pony, pony is taken away, woman burns town down in revenge. Introducing “Pony” by The Lumberjack Cowboy Heartbreak Trucking Co.
Music is pretty universal — even the more eclectic tunes like “Pony” by The Lumberjack Cowboy Heartbreak Trucking Co, an American band that describes its sound as “alt country disco.” While we’re thinking that’s a more niche genre, we can’t stop listening to “Pony” on repeat, over and over again, because it’s a universal story that all of us in the Horse Nation can get behind.
Here’s a teaser, from the first verse and chorus:
I knew a lady, she’s complicated
She had a theory that we were all related
She had a pony, it wasn’t lonely
She would love and feed it day and night
She missed a payment, misread her statement
And they came and took her pony away
And now she’s lonely without her pony
I could see the fire burn deep inside
We watched the fires burn
We watched the fires burn
We watched the fires burn
They’re gonna learn
Don’t take a pony from a lady
She’s gonna burn this ——- town right down.
YUP. Horse Nation anthem, anyone?
The music video is pretty sassy as well: it opens with scenes of the lady and her pony…
… but then the bank comes to take her pony away…
… and things start to get a little ugly.
Whatever, lady, I can totally relate. Don’t mess with my pony.
Watch the video for yourself and rock out to The Lumberjack Cowboy Heartbreak Trucking Co. (This is the radio edit, but may still include language considered NSFW.)
Go ponies. Go riding.
