‘Odysseo’ Set to Make a Splash in Winnipeg & San Francisco This Fall
Rolex’s famous “Head of the Lake” water complex looks like a rinky-dink puddle in comparison to the grand finale of Cavalia’s sister show, which has announced its fall tour dates.
I haven’t had a chance to check it out myself but by all accounts Odysseo is supposed to be incredible. The producers describe it as an “innovative, new show that pays tribute to nature and the breathtaking landscapes horses have helped humans to discover around the globe,” taking audiences on a journey that leads them from the Mongolian steppes to Monument Valley to Nordic glaciers and beyond.
The spectacle takes place in a colossal big-top tent that is larger than an NFL football field (check out this video of the tent going up in Winnipeg here), and each performance involves some 70 horses and 45 riders, acrobats and musicians — so, yeah, it’s kind of a big deal.
Even the photos are mind-blowing. How is this all happening inside a tent?!
And this trailer makes me wonder if I could even handle the real thing:
The show premiered in Atlanta in December 2011 and has been roving about ever since. For fall 2015, Odysseo is in Winnipeg, Manitoba from September 10th to October 4th (you can save 15% if you order your tickets by September 6th), followed by a run in San Francisco from November 25th through December 14th. If you live in or near one of those two cities, you’ve got to go!
